in this theater when asked about this subject that as clearly and as cleanly as mr. romney won the the debate, it still seems politically important that mr. romney did not win the debate in a way that produced a single sound bite. i mean, yeah, 60 million people watched romney win the debate overall, but for the 240 or so million american who is did not watch the debate who might have been curious about how it went, there was no single sound bite to take away from the debate to remember and repeat as the reason that mr. romney won. and so i sat at this event that even though romney won that night, won on debate night, there wasn't any day two story that could explain to people why it was that he won. i said, really, thinking about it, the only line, the single line that survived the debate, the only line that i think anybody can remember from the debate, i said this to a room of 2,000 people. there's one line that everybody can remember from that debate and that was -- and everybody in that theater simultaneously said back to me "big bird." 2,000 people all at once "big bird." the morning aft

is that mr. romney doesn't like to do stuff the morning after big events. at least, they don't like to have big, public events planned for mr. romney after big events. i mean, traditionally, candidates see, and campaigns see big marquis events like debates or conventions as springboards for the next day's public attention and momentum. but the romney campaign is not like that. after his convention, mr. romney did not do a traditional bus tour or barn storming campaign trip. after his convention, you will recall that mr. romney went on vacation. mr. romney, even after he had such a big win at the first presidential debate, he did not have any big, morning after the debate rallies or anything. he went and did an event that was off his public schedule, but nobody knew for sure he would be anywhere, and there wasn't a big crowd of people around him while he was rallying the troops to his big win. it was a very quiet morning. and then again today, after the second presidential debate, mr. romney did no public events in the morning. i mean, i don't know if it means anything important, but it is a

, on taxes, on other issues, this is their go-to. they just say, no, never mind what mr. romney just said, he didn't really mean it. usually it works for them. but today the beltway press and the opposing campaign and anybody who has ever paid attention to mitt romney on this issue, today, enough. today, everybody said enough. on this one, no, you cannot get away with it. not when this is your record. with the record that you have on this subject, you have to run on this record. this is the mitt romney record on this issue. on just the overall idea on whether president obama would ever sign legislation to ban abortion, this is not a matter of dispute. this is not a matter of subtleties. this is an actual question that mitt romney has answered, directly. it's very clear. >> i would welcome a circumstance where there was such a consensus in this country that we said, we don't want to have abortion in this country at all. that would be wonderful. i would be delighted. i would be delighted to sign that bill. >> "i would be delighted to sign that bill," that would no longer allow abortions at all,

of mr. obama or mr. romney on foreign policy because i think it's important that you know what you're talking about. as a united states senator you need to know when to deep your mouth shut and right now that's the time. everythingrivy to they know. that's an area where i would look forward to having briefings and having the opportunity to learn more about. >> thank you very much, thanks to you for -- thanks to you the candidates for joining us and my colleagues for being here as well for this texas debate. we'll make this program available on texasdebates.org. election day is tuesday, november 6. good night. \[captioning performed by national captioning institute] \[captions copyright national cable satellite corp. 2012] >> the enemy understands this will be a major defeat in their ideology of hatred. that is why they're fighting. that is why they're fighting.

of telegraphing this week from mr. romney, that maybe he will put some details into his economic talk. he's started to float some new ideas about taxes that he never floated before. my question is whether or not he thinks the right place to unveil those is in a debate setting. surprise the president with something he's never said before or if he wants to save that stuff for a more controlled environment. that will tell us as much about his temperament and his strategy as it will about his plans. let me bring in lawrence o'donnell, chris. lawrence is in the spin room tonight, which i think has yet to begin to spin. lawrence, what do you think the expectations are on both sides tonight? >> reporter: well, rachel, in this room, there are a lot of $10,000 bets going on behind me about what the president is going to say tonight and what mitt romney is going to say tonight. i think the rules actually favor president obama because there are almost no rules. they are going to do two-minute statements, they're each going to get two minutes at the beginning of the subjects that jim leherer will int

. the fellow on stage last night, he loves teachers. can't get enough of them. >> but this morning mr. romney woke and shook the etch-a-sketch once more venturing out to soak in conservative praise making a surprise visit to colorado's sea-pac conference. romney was greeted with a standing occasion and seized the opportunity to repeat one of his favorite zingers ad nauseam. >> trickle down government. trickle down government. trickle down government. trickle down government will not create the jobs americans need. >> trickle down government, zing. the crowd there clearly energized by romney's debate performance last night and obama's senior adviser david axelrod praised it as well suggesting it was oscar-worthy, though not worthy of the white house. due to some basic problems with simple veracity. >> i'm not looking for a $5 trillion tax cut. i can't understand how you can cut medicare $716 billion for current recipients of medicare. pre-existing conditions are covered under my plan. an unelected board, appointed board who are going to decide what kind of treatments you ought to have. >> not

, herself, was not in the room. mr. romney was there with his wife, ann romney, but the president was there without the first lady. michelle obama was not in the room. i think that is what made mr. romney's joke more awkward than it otherwise might have been. >> campaigns can be grueling, exhausting. president obama and i each very lucky to have one person who's always in our corner, someone who we can lean on and someone who's a comforting presence without whom we wouldn't be able to go another day. i have my beautiful wife, ann, he has bill clinton. >> which is a funny joke, but he's also a little bit mean to the first lady, right? mr. romney did go on at the end of his remarks to say very nice things, very nice and serious things about the whole obama family. that sort of softened the blow there a little bit. michelle obama was also the subject of a self-deprecatie ii joke from president obama, himself. >> tomorrow it's back to campaigning. i've been to cities and towns across our great country, and i hear the same everywhere i go. honestly, we were hoping to see michelle. >> t

romney's refusal to release any tax returns from before 2010 or mr. romney's offshore investments or mr. romney's career at bain capital and his offshoring history through that company. and after one of the longest wars in history was ended by this president, and with the longest war in our history set to wind down over the next two years, there has been zero discussion from any of these candidates at the presidential level or the vice presidential level about veterans, about keeping our promises to the 1% of the population that we have had fighting in our name for more than 11 years now. ed schultz, when you look at what has been covered so far and what hasn't been covered, what do you think the president most wants to get -- wants to get to tonight that hasn't been covered so far? >> i think it's a lot about emotion, rachel. you know, the first time ed and wendy schultz ever met barack obama, we went in his office in january of 2007. he had been on my radio show a few times, but we had never met. so we had the opportunity to go in his office, and he had a huge picture of muhammad ali,

, why not? mr. romney has said, i want to zero out oil imports. the other point, we will do it on our own. he has never said we will do it on our own. on the contrary, what mr. romney has said is, we are going to work with our allies in a way that this administration has not. he does not plan to wake up the polish foreign minister in the middle of the night to tell him we have just changed our missile defense plan. he does not plan to go and whisper to the president of france that mr. netanyahu was a pain in the you-know-where. he doesn't plan to turn around to the russian president and say, just wait. once i have flexibility, i can do all kinds of things that i cannot do right now. he does not plan to stand aside when there is a major green revolution in iran, and the united states does nothing. we are supposedly trying to get the mullahs to heel to what we are looking for, and the very same mullahs know that when there was a real threat to them, we sat on our hands. what does that tell you about our credibility? what does that tell you about our consistency? >> dov, you have written

to american spring wire, mr. romney hammered away at president obama for not being tough on china. not the way that he mitt romney would be tough on china. but the company mr. romney chose for his backdrop that day, the company that he chose to implicitly help make that case so happened to be a poster child for success by president obama in getting tough on china. in 2009 in the first months of president obama's presidency, american spring wire joined with two other makers to ask for help. china was unfairly dumping steel wire in the united states market at artificial low prices. they asked for help. the commerce department said they would investigate and the commerce department did move to protect american spring wire. they cracked down on china for dumping their underpriced product. thus the company was benefitted. they got the help they wanted. a company that was then used as a backdrop for mitt romney saying president obama had not been tough on china. today mr. romney gave a major address on economic policy. this is part of his closing argument for the presidency. he delivered the speech

is going to get the lion's share of that vote. >> they are 75%, so mr. romney has the lowest support since its gerald ford. i think mr. romney made a strategic decision to go after the hispanic vote. the republican platform reflects that. tavis: how would you situate the issue of immigration reform? >> i think it is more of a proxy for how people feel they are being disrespected by the rest of the country, and they brought immigration to the fore, not so much that is the issue, but it feels like it is being used, and people reacted to it. tavis: ferris is a bifurcation of the attitudes -- there is a bifurcation of the attitudes. there are a lot of hispanics who are disappointed of him not having done more in his first term, particularly in the forum that mr. romney showed up separately and mr. obama showed up separately. you promise. a promise is a promise. what do you make of that sentiment? he did not -- there are people who feel he did not push enough on immigration. >> we have to understand the country comes first. 2009 was a full-fledged economic collapse. to implement immigration ref

than mitt romney's policy positions. now with just 27 days until the election, and for mr. romney it's all about the buckeye state where a cnn poll shows him tightening the gap but still down four points to the president following the debate in denver. romney is barrelling through the state. he's just wrapped up a rally outside bun's restaurant with new jersey governor chris christie in tow. earlier in mt. vernon he was busy dusting off the moderate mitt for a campaign blitz. >> we're going to fix our schools by making sure we put our kid and their parents and the teachers first. >> teachers first, right, of course. nobody will remember how you were saying, no more teachers, just a few months ago. >> he says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. didn't he not get the message in wisconsin, the american people did, it's time for us to cut back on goth. >> yes, romney's been limbering up all year for this moment, and the president, too, shaping up. fop that end he's retooled his stump speech to reflect the new-found agility of his challenger. last night in columbus, drawi

. so it was left to mrs. romney to defend her man's trouble with women with those sharp tongued ladies of "the view." >> do you think that access to contraception and abortion is an economic issue as i was saying in the hot topics? >> you know, again, i would love it if you'd get my husband on the couch and -- >> i would love it. >> you can go down with that all you want. >> no, unfortunately, she can't go down with that, ann. that's because mr. romney canceled on the ladies of "the view." they're high risk, you know, only one of them is a conservative. let's get to our panel now in washington. michael crawly, deputy washington chief for "time" and professor michael eric dyson, and with me in new york is joy reid, managing editor of t thegrio.c thegrio.com. the president is roaring around the country today. the vice president is out campaigning, former president bill clinton is out, the boss is out, and mr. romney, he sent his wife onto "the view." >> you know, it's pretty rough. he's trying to tag team there, i suppose, but the president seems to be in full control of the facts, and a

a little bit mean to the first lady, right? mr. romney did go on at the end of his remarks to say very nice things, very nice and serious things about the whole obama family. that sort of softened the blow there a little bit. michelle obama was also the subject of a self-deprecating joke from president obama, himself. >> tomorrow it's back to campaigning. i've been to cities and towns across our great country, and i hear the same thing everywhere i go. honestly, we were hoping to see michelle. >> that was not president obama's funniest joke of the night, but it turns out that what he said there is actually kind of true. at least the underlying point of it, which is that people apparently really, really like to see michelle obama out on the campaign trail. this is mrs. obama today speaking at a campaign rally in racine, wisconsin. there were something like 2,500 people, capacity crowd crammed in to see mrs. obama. we know it was a capacity crowd because there was also a line of people several blocks long outside who were trying to get in to see her but who could not get into the room. so whe

of them. mr. romney was so rude and kept interrupting the president. here is one from twitter. give us a call at one of the numbers on your screen. on the democrats' line, what did you think? >> i think that even as a democrat myself, mitt romney had some really good. . i think that obama could have been a lot more aggressive. don't spend the first 20 seconds of the first presidential debate wishing pure wife happy anniversary. >> did you learn anything from the exchanges from either man? >> i actually did not know mitt romney views on energy. i think independent energy is a great idea. >> this is weighing in alexandria virginia on the republican line. >> i listened to the debate and the president mentioned the number one job of the government is to protect the people. now he is the executive chief commander. that is his no. 1 job in his branch of the government. he did talk about strengthening our military -- he did not mention anything about strengthening the military which mitt romney did mention that he was going to keep the government strong. my biggest issue is the economy right

, wednesday, the first of these four debates, three between mr. romney and mr. obama. tomorrow is the first that we will see them on the same stage. in advance of that debate tomorrow night, yesterday in "the wall street journal" mr. romney had a piece. the piece was titled "a new course for the middle east," but he raises some domestic issues, . "in recent years, president obama has allowed our leadership to atrophy. our economy is stuck in a recovery that is clearly deserves the name. our national debt has risen to record levels. our military tested by a decade of war is facing cuts based to that -- thanks to the budgetary games played by the white house. our values have been misunderstood by a president who thinks that weakness will win favor with our adversaries. by failing to maintain the elements of our influence and by stepping away from our allies, president obama has heightened the prospect of conflict and instability. he does not understand that an american policy that lets result can provoke a precedent and encouraged this order." two paris. let me take them one at a time. in the

debate between mr. obama and mr. romney is behind us. the president is on his own. just weeks ago at the democratic convention he had a nice assist from former president bill clinton. bill clinton has weighed in on this issue. again, it is one thing for you and me to talk about. when bill clinton says something, people start to pay attention. he has weighed in on this and said something i want you to unpack. he has argued that the republicans what the electorate in 2012 to look like the 2010 electorate and not like the 2008 electorate. explain what he meant by thtat. >> if you look at the 2008 electorate, it was a the per se electric, a denver electorate. and it signaled a democrat change in the country and what the electorate will look like going forward in 2016 and beyond. that is why i called the coalition of the ascendant. if you look at 2010, it was an electorate that was older and more conservative. that is why republicans did so well in 2010 and not so well in 2008. clinton said this is not rocket science, that what republicans want to do is they want to make the 2012 elect

. the problem for mr. romney, well, presidential elections are decided by electoral votes. and in that puzzle, mitt's chances are starting to crumble like a poorly constructed game of genga. it's still a close race in virginia and florida, with the president up by two in the old dominion. it's ohio with the president opening up a lead of eight points in the buckeye state, where voting is under way. with ohio joining pennsylvania, are iowa and new hampshire turning increasingly blue, that puts the president at 265 electoral votes. mitt romney would have to run the table of every other swing state to get to victory. and clearly, romney's so-called supporters are now reaching for desperate measures. >> on the eve of the first presidential debate, a bombshell is about to be dropped on the white house because tonight you'll hear from barack obama like you've never heard from him before. >> oh, yes, that was the introduction last night before fox aired tape of a 2007 speech by then-candidate obama to a group of black ministers in which he criticized the response to hurricane katrina and provided ce

do one event today in florida. and mr. romney's wife went on "the view" and talked about why mr. romney and all five of his sons never served in the military, but that was it for the whole republican campaign today. on the democratic side most of the heat and light was generated outside the actual ticket today because it was former president bill clinton today campaigning with bruce springsteen. >> i came here today because i'm thankful for universal health care. you know, the lack of which, the lack of which was for so long an embarrassment to our country. i'm thankful for more regulated wall street. i'm thankful gm is still making cars. >> after that event in ohio today, bruce springsteen then left to do another event for president obama tonight in iowa. but in terms of the actual candidates, vice president joe biden held an event today, a ruckus event today in las vegas. president obama held a very large event in manchester, new hampshire. campaign said this is going to be president obama's last personal appearance in new hampshire before election day. they got 6,000 people t

their hair out in disbelief. what happened last night is the historical norm. had mr. romney lost, given the fact he is behind the polls and given the fact that challengers basically always win the first debate against an incumbent president, it was notable and would have been fatal for the romney campaign. the fact it was the president who lost instead says what exactly about the rest of the race? exactly. this modern history right here, the complete record of the precedent for this thing in american politics, after what just happened at they debate last night. in terms of who won the first debate, the record for sitting presidents is 1-6 now after last night. but in terms of who went on to win the election after those first debates, look -- it's dead even. wins, three. losses, three. half these guys won, half these guys lost when it came to election day. and this year, who knows. the great dan rather joins us next. >>> dan rather joins us next for the interview. [ slap! slap! slap! slap! ] ow! [ male announcer ] when your favorite foods fight you, fight back fast with tums smoothies. s

,000 people showed up in the cold to support romney who was introduced by fired up governor of new jersey, mr. chris christie. >> a few weeks ago, i watched the democratic national convention, i did it as a sacrifice and service to my country. i sat on my couch in my living room, i made my 12-year-old son patrick bring me a big bottle of water because when i hear that much b.s., i get lightheaded. i want to help the president i'm sure because he loves me. i'm sure he's out there listening. mr. president, you have lived inside 1600 pennsylvania avenue for four years. if you can't change washington from inside the white house, then let's get you the plane ticket back to chicago you've earned. >> romney who is holding three more campaign events today in ohio shows you you how much they think they need to do in that state, then supplied the crowd with a neutrallying cry. >> i've been watching some of the president obama's rallies. and they chant four more year, four more years. and today there are 28 days before the election. i think the right chant ought to be for them four more weeks, four more

, the sad answer is there is no way to know what mr. romney really believes. his swings have been dramatic on gay rights, gun rights, health care, climate change and immigration. oh, dear, this isn't going very well, is it? voters are left with the centerpiece of mr. romney's campaign. promise tax cuts that would blow a much bigger hole in the federal budget while worsening economic inequality. his claims he could avoid those negative effects which defy math and which he refuses to back up with actual proposals are more insulting than reassuring. wlaets get right to our panel inform washington. eugene robinson, an msnbc analyst and a pulitzer prize winning columnist for the aforementioned "washington post" and here in new york richard wolffe is the vice president and executive editor of msnbc.com. romney has been saying the democrats have a shrinking campaign because all they want to talk about is abortion. we've been talking for 12 months about mitt romney's economic plan. we've been talking for two years about his central thesis for the presidency, what he wants to do, and what we have t

of mr. romney's foreign policy advisers out of 24 are all from the bush administration, that's 70%, shouldn't george bush be the one here for this debate? wouldn't he be the right person. >> the ma man you put on earlier was the chief spokesperson during the worst days of the american occupation of iraq. the fact that he's one of governor romney's top advisers is very concerning. i think in terms of the foreign policy issue that you're dealing with now, afghanistan, iraq, these were legacy foreign policy issues that obama inherited and had to fix. he withdrew from iraq and he decided to escalate in afghanistan. >> karen, romney at least in public is sprinting away from his neocon advisers quicker than usain bolt's 100 meter record but isn't his foreign policy as befuddled as his economic plan. he attacks the president but doesn't offer a specific plan on aflg, on taliban, on iran, nothing. >> that's exactly right. here we are back to boca, baby. it's an opportunity, remember, this was the scene of the crime of the 47%. it's also where mitt romney said, oh, with the middle east, yo

the republican nominee was down, the president put his rhetorical heel on mr. romney's throat, to make sure he stayed down. a tactic he took with him on the campaign trail today. >> i've got to tell you, we don't have to collect a bunch of binders to find qualified, talented, driven young women, ready to learn and teach in these fields right now. >> yes, binders full of women. mr. romney has delivered world class stupidity during this campaign but few have stirred the passion on his answer on how he would bridge the pay gap between men and women. >> we took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet. i went to a number of women's groups and said, can you help us find folks? they brought us whole binders full of women. >> amazing. mitt's version of right to choose is to give women the option of being a two or thre three-hole punch. but this is romnmitt romney, remember? it's not just his foolish asides you have to keep up with, it's his loose interpretation of the word "fact" which unfortunately for him they were chec

specifically, that would imply there's been a change in the race in mr. romney's favor. right now, though, that poll does sort of stick out. it's an outlier in terms of being more favorable to romney than everything else with polls like this at the combined state level. all of the national polls released today show the race is essentially a dead heat. tracking shows romney up by 2. the rasmussen poll has romney up by 1. investors business daily has the race at a tie. and the new abc news "washington post" poll shows obama up by 3. here's where it gets interesting. a ton of polling stuff comes out every day. every day there's at least one super interesting thing. and right now the thing most important, i think most intriguing in the data out of all the snapshots of the race is this. this right here is probably the most interesting thing. abc news and "washington post" polled voters nape didn't just ask who do they like. they asked which candidate would be better on a series of issues. here's what they found. on the issue of the economy, it's president obama by 4. taxes, president obama by

debate mr. romney was antagonistic. in the second debate much more friendly to the president. in the third debate he became the president, agreeing with virtually everything that the commander in chief said. that debate, that wasn't a debate. that was political osmosis. >> it was incredible. as i wrote today, what a waste of time. at a certain point i began to feel like i either was listening to them in stereo or sitting in an echo chamber. mitt romney, who has campaigned on a whole lot of issues, foreign policy issues, suddenly -- >> john, i'm sorry to interrupt you -- john, i'm sorry to interrupt you, you said it was a waste of time. how can it possibly be a waste of time when a candidate for president of this country is exposed as utterly ignorant in foreign policy, who looks at an atlas and throws out the country mali it give the impression he knows something about sub-saharan africa? that was the point of last night and that was not worthless, john. >> well, okay, fine. also we learned that iran had an alliance with syria because they needed a route to the sea. that bein

, that's even better. >> to which one might ask, even better for who, mr. romney? we'll get to our panel for more on the intersection of a hurricane and presidential campaign in a moment, but first, we want to get more on the crane collapse here in midtown manhattan. a precarious and dangerous situation as the boom itself is now hanging on top of what will be the tallest residential building in new york city on 57th street and 6th avenue. let's get right to rehema ellis, about a block away from the building, for the latest. as i understand it, construction sites were ordered to tie things down by 5:00 p.m. on saturday, so what has happened here? >> reporter: well, what happened is what they hoped would not happen. what they feared could happen, martin, because, as you point out, two days ago they had ordered all building construction crews to stop, to suspend that construction with anticipation that something like this could happen. but this is beyond their anticipation. in fact, what we're told by the national weather service is that the wind was blowing at only about 20 miles per hour

. but the real debate last night was between mitt romney and mitt romney. and being so contradictory, mr. romney opened a huge line of attack for the president. not just for 90 minutes, but for the 33 days until this election. and today in a blistering speech, the president took full advantage of the opportunity that romney's dishonest performance invited. >> when i got on to the stage, i met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be mitt romney. but it couldn't have been mitt romney. because the real mitt romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy, the fellow on stage last night said he didn't know anything about that. the real mitt romney said we don't need any more teachers in our classrooms. but don't boo, vote. but the fellow on stage last night, he loves teachers. can't get enough of them. the mitt romney we all know invested in companies that were called pioneers of outsourcing jobs to other countries. but the guy on stage last night, he said that he doesn't even know that there are such laws that encourage outso

on the campaign. in the new poll just released in the last couple hours, people say those remarks from mr. romney made them feel more negative than positive toward mr. romney by a 22-point margin. those results match other polling that shows those comments alienated undecided voters. regardless of what you think of the substance of that it statement from mr. romney, it did turn the whole republican pundit class against him, called every candidate in a contested race to distance themselves from the presidential nominee of their party to start campaigning against mitt romney, telling voters, listen, i don't like that guy on that issue either, but vote for me any way even though i'm a republican. whether or not you think the remarks were scandalous, the polling impact of them is now showing up directly at a time when mr. romney's egregiously bad polling numbers seem to be calcifying and when most voters are now starting to vote. an incredibly negative impact for romney and his campaign at a difficult time for them. now on the eve of the first presidential debate, if they were hoping to put that behi

an opinion, you've been wrong. >> reporter: the president mocked mr. romney's repeated attempts to agree with many of his policies. >> i congratulate him on taking out osama bin ladin and going after the leadership in al qaeda. >> i'm glad that you agree we've been successful in going after al qaeda, but i have to tell you, your strategy previously has been one that's been all over the map. >> reporter: both men did echo the other on an array of foreign policy declarations. >> as long as i'm president of the united states, iran will not get a nuclear weapon. >> a nuclear iran -- a nuclear capable iran is unacceptable to america. >> i will stand with israel if they are attacked. >> we will stand with israel. and if israel is attacked, we have their back. >> reporter: one of the few times mr. romney went hard at the president referred to this private remark caught on tape earlier this year between mr. obama and the former russian president dmitri medvedev. >> i'm not going to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to russia or mr. putin. and i'm certainly not going to say to him, i'll giv

't the zinger likely to become something of a boomerang and hit mr. romney instead of his opponent? >> you know, everybody always remembers the great zingers. you know, usually something from ronald reagan, but here we go again expecting that people are going to try a little bit too hard. there's a real danger when you've been supplied with premixed, ready-made zingers to insert into the debate that mitt romney will insert them at the wrong time or say them not quite right. the only thing worse than having no zinger is having a zinger that comes off badly and comes back to bite you. so i think that's a perilous way to go, but i'll be there in denver, and i look forward to the attempts because it will make it far more interesting. >> indeed. we're delighted, ron, that you're here. you have devealed to us for the first time that you have prepped with mitt romney previously. >> i have. >> tell us a little bit about that. >> well, it was a remarkable experience. it was the 2008 campaign when he was running in the primaries. he assembled a smart group of folks to go up and run him through the paces.
